Dan Nicholas Park with Grandma

Harper had her first car trip last weekend. We went to Salisbury to check on Grandma Brooks after her knee surgery. Harper did an amazing job and slept the entire trip. Our sweet Kinsley did the opposite. She stayed up until we reached the house. She ate, drank her shake, watched dvds, and sang in the back seat.

Grandma was feeling up to exploring the park on Saturday. This carousel was the fastest carousel I have ever seen!

Look at this face!

Harper liked the bald eagles.

My little reader

Kinsley loves to read books. Her and her dad read several every night before bed. Her favorite book the past couple weeks has been, "No More Monkeys." The other night after dinner Harper was laying on the chair and started to cry. Kinsley grabbed a book and started reading it to her. Of course I didn't catch it perfectly, but I did capture the moment.

Aunt Rachel's visit

Rachel drove down on for her spring break vacation. It was so fun to see her, Lindsey, and Coop in the middle of the week. We don't get to do that often! Of course Rachel was excited to meet Miss Harper, and Kinsley was excited to play with Cooper. We sure wish our family lived closer, but when we visit it makes it more special!

Strawberry picking!

I took the girls to the strawberry patch the other day. I am pretty sure Kinsley ate half a bucket worth before we left!

Our sweet family

Good pictures are so hard to get when you are working with two small children. Here are a few that we captured after church.

Easter morning!

When people say that the holidays are more fun with a child in the house, they must be refering to my two year old. This Easter was so fun. Kinsley woke up and ran to Mimi's (really Harper's) room. Corey and I jumped out of bed so we would not miss her face when she found the first egg. The bunny hid 9 real eggs and 15 plastic eggs. She found the first one on the stool and then it was on. She was excited because the first 2 had squinkies in them. Then the candy started showing up... you can see in the pictures that she had to open each one when she found it and put all the candy in a pile. Oh yeah, she ate as she went too. She found her basket in the plant and then another in the dryer. She even helped Harper find her basket in the front closet. The house was full of love and laughter..nothing better!

I should have got a picture before the baskets were dug through... Well, we have a two year old and a one month old. This is how it goes!

Painting and dying eggs

After an awesome ice cream dinner, we dyed a dozen eggs. Kinsley decided she wanted to eat three, so there were only 9 for the bunny to hide. The kit included paint to speckle the eggs with. She got extremely messy, but isn't that part of the fun. She did have her fingernails painted for church. Well, after this they were pink with dye all over them.

Wrightsville Beach Egg Hunt!

Ok, so if you know Corey and I you know we are a bit competitive. Well, with a little direction from mom and dad (wink) Kinsley found the golden egg and won the grand prize.

The sand pail was so big and full of fun sand toys, Kinsley could barely carry it! She was super excited!

One month!

I can not believe that my little baby is already a month old. The first week flew by with staying in the hospital a couple days and then having Mimi and Grandma here to help out. The second week was the first one on my own with both the girls, and we started our routine with two. Harper slept most of the day and only woke up at night to eat. The third week she started to be heard a bit more. She is still a sleeper, which has been nice. This week we have gotten out of the house a lot more and I am starting to get the hang of managing both girls. We even made it to the early church service today. Kinsley went to "school," after looking for Jesus before the service started..so cute! Harper behaved right up to the end, then dad took her out for a few minutes. I am pretty sure the people around us enjoyed her way more than being annoyed by her crying.

Normally Harper starts her morning about 8. She eats for about 5 minutes (yes, she chows but not for long, lucky me!) and then gets dressed or has a bath depending on the day. She stays awake about an hour in all and then starts to get fussy. This is my queue to get her wrapped up and put her back to sleep. She likes for me to rock her a bit until she falls asleep. She takes her naps in her swing during the day. She wakes up about 2-3 hours later and is ready to eat again. We do this routine the rest of the day. The evenings are a bit rougher. Just like with Kinsley, 6-8 in the evening she cries if I can not get her to fall asleep. I have found some secret ways to get her to sleep the last couple nights though! :) Her last feeding is normally around 9 or 10 o'clock. She then spends the evening watching the basketball games with her dad, so I can get a few hours of good sleep. Corey brings her to her bassinet when he comes to bed or brings her to me to eat if he fell asleep and she is ready to eat. This is usually about 1 or 2 am. Then she eats again about 5 or 6 am. Sometimes she barely wakes up so I can feed her and put her right back into the bassinet. Other times I am not so lucky and she won't fall right asleep...these times lead to her sleeping next to me in the bed. No, Kinsley NEVER slept in the bed with us. I guess this is one of the second child decisions. I know I have another angel who is about to pitter patter into my room, so I better get rest any way I can get it!

Harper has been such a joy the past month. Kinsley has taken so well to her, thankfully. Tonight I was rocking Harper on the couch and Kinsley kissed her head and said, "I love her!" I can not wait to see what the next couple months bring!
